How We Can Help You

What is an Allergy Blood Test?

It is a simple and highly accurate way to check for specific allergy antibodies. Unlike traditional skin scratch tests, it looks at your system reactions directly from a blood sample, meaning no uncomfortable or itchy skin reactions for you.

Why Get Tested?

Living with hidden allergies can cause daily discomfort, from upset stomachs to exhaustion and skin rashes. Finding the exact cause allows you to manage your diet and lifestyle with total confidence.

When Should You Get Checked?

We recommend booking a test if you deal with constant seasonal sniffles, sudden rashes, or unexplained stomach pain after eating certain foods.

Take Control of Your Symptoms

Stop guessing about what is causing your reactions. Book a quick and comfortable appointment with our friendly phlebotomy team at Medical Diagnosis Victoria (MDX Victoria) today.

Appointment Preparation

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Most of our basic allergy and coeliac tests do not require you to fast. We just recommend drinking plenty of water in the 2 hours before your visit to Victoria to make the blood draw as easy as possible. Please let your doctor know if you are taking any heavy immunosuppressive medications.

Can I keep taking my antihistamines?

Yes. Unlike traditional skin scratch tests that require you to stop antihistamines for a week, our blood tests check your levels directly. This means your standard allergy pills generally will not affect the results. Our doctors will review all of your current prescriptions with you during your visit.

Understanding Your Results

How Accurate Are the Tests?

What is the difference between specific and general allergy tests?

Specific tests check your reaction to individual things, like tree pollen, dairy, or wheat. The general IgE test measures the overall level of allergic response happening in your body to give us a clear baseline.

Will this show an allergy or an intolerance?

Yes. True allergies trigger your immune system immediately, which our tests pick up clearly. Food intolerances usually happen in your digestive system without involving the immune system. Our specific panels help identify true allergies so you know exactly what you are dealing with.
