It is a very simple process. We apply a cooling gel to your lower abdomen and use a smooth probe to take images. It is completely painless and safe, as it uses sound waves rather than radiation.

How do I prepare for my visit?

To get the clearest possible images of your bladder and prostate, we need your bladder to be comfortably full. Please drink about 1.5 to 2 pints of water roughly one hour before your appointment time and try to wait until after the scan to use the restroom.

When will I receive my results?

We know you want answers quickly. The scan takes about 15 to 20 minutes, and we provide your detailed report and summary before you leave the clinic, so you do not have to wait for follow-up letters.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No, you do not. You can book an appointment directly with us at MDX Victoria. If we find anything that needs attention, we can help you coordinate with your GP or specialist for any next steps.
